10 Things We Love About Maine Mendoza

Maine Mendoza is a phenomenal star and she does not even know it. Since her biggest break, people can’t get enough of her! Everything she touches turns into gold. She has already tied with some of the largest brands in the country not long after her rise to stardom together with her other half, Alden Richards.

Below are only 10 of the things we love about her that makes us want to buy everything she endorses:

Maine did not work hard for her fame

It was this time last year when I first set my foot on Broadway Centrum. June 19, 2015 was the day I auditioned for Eat Bulaga. I can still remember how nervous and timid I was as I stand in the middle of the stage, facing the camera. It’s been a year but I still wonder how I was able to survive that audition unprepared. People who tried out their luck along with me that day were all psyched-up and had everything prepared; and then there I was, as Ma’am Jenny would describe it, “Walang kalatuy-latoy”. Those who have seen my audition video could tell that there was nothing striking in me when I stood up on that stage–aside from my big red lips that took people’s attention–there was clearly nothing more. I mustered an ounce of confidence to act like a crazy woman when I was asked to, thinking that would be the only way to get a chance to pass the audition. I was able to do it but I knew I did it horribly. I was discouraged and I already knew right there and then that I lost my chance. Still, I was holding onto this little possibility that they’d call me back, also thinking that even if they don’t, I am glad and proud that I did not let this opportunity pass me by. I went home with a smile on my face, gave myself a pat on the back and told myself “At least you tried.” ????

Hard work is essential in life in order to succeed. But sometimes, lucky people hit the right button and become stars simply for doing what they love. Maine obviously did not work too hard to be loved by the people. Instead, she showed the world her natural quirkiness without being too annoying!

She is fun and smart yet classy

Respects begets respect. While there are a lot of funny and quirky comedians in the showbiz industry, Maine continues to shine because of her natural wit and classy approach to people. She knows when to make a joke and when to takes issues seriously.

Reputable family and educational background

Even without showbiz, Maine would still be shining her light. Before she was discovered, she was already working at her family’s oil business, right after she graduated with flying colors. She is an achiever. So even without meeting Alden, she would still be very successful in her own right. Don’t you just want to live her life?

Morena beauty

Sure, we love looking pale. Filipinos dislike their brown skin color, but beautiful showbiz people with natural bronze start showing up. Many of them have succumbed to accepting whitening sponsorships, maybe to please the nation, but we hope that Maine is smart enough to maintain her natural morena beauty, no matter how much it costs!

She loves makeup

IT’S (ALMOST) HERE! So stoked to finally reveal the shade of my #MaineForMac lippie! (And it’s not yellow, guys! Lol) Opted for a nude shade with matte finish that would work well on a variety of skin tones. I want this to be the universal nude lipstick since you can wear it with anything— from casual to formal— at any time of the day regardless of the occasion! (You can also adjust the tone by wearing a lipliner underneath, if ever you find it too light or if you just want an extra pop!) Really excited for you guys to have it! Still feels surreal to actually have my very own lipstick with MAC. Thank you very much, @maccosmeticsph! (@gaylaochen!) I will be forever honoured and grateful for being a #MACMaker. ???? . Hope you could all get your hands on it! It will be out on September 21st in Lazada; 22nd in Megamall; 23rd in all MAC stores nationwide. . Yay hope you guys like it! ????

Maine looks good in her bare face but she was known to be this girl with full,  pouty lips. During her reign as Yaya Dub, she puts on this rich-colored Ruby Woo lipstick from MAC, emphasizing her natural pout and straight teeth. She recently just released a neutral shade under MAC and it got sold out online in just 1 minute. How crazy is that?

No love team partner needed

Maine was discovered when she joined in a segment in Eat Bulaga. She was immediately noticed due to her natural ‘kilig’ reaction when Alden Richards looked at her through the T.V. monitor. It was a stepping stone, but not a necessity. Now, she is receiving projects without a partner and people love her even more.

Very relatable

Ok, let me just begin by saying that I am the kind of person who is very pessimistic and nonchalant when it comes to things– like competitions! I never really bothered exerting much effort, for I am used to giving and doing just “enough”. Yung saktuhan lang. For everyone’s information, today is Eat Bulaga’s 38th anniversary celebration, as well as #DabarkadsGoals grand finals. And yes, our team #TeamRamen was fortunate to be one of the finalists! So ito na.. this morning, I was shedding tears like a kid out of frustration. When Kuya Ryan texted that he couldn’t get out of bed because of his back, I was daunted by the possibility that I might do this whole thing on my own. I was up for it; I was more than willing to do it for our team. At the same time, I was scared that I might not be able to do well without Kuya Ry. We didn’t have much time to rehearse, for we were given only an hour today to go over everything on the set. During rehearsals at around 7am, we were not able to perform ANYTHING correctly. Fail lahat; from the dance steps, cueing, blocking, to the execution of stunts. It seemed everyone was so lost. And even I, started feeling apprehensive too. That was our last rehearsals before the actual performance but we still failed to execute everything properly. My pessimist side got the best of me, and the only words that came off my mouth at that moment were “Hindi ko to magagawa”. I couldn’t stop my tears from falling, stressed ako sobra! I feel like I am not equipped to do the stunts. @pat_05 told me that it was fine to make changes if I cannot do it (for safety purposes na din), but then optimism kicked in so I told her “Hindi, kaya ko.” I was feeling anxious the whole morning, that I even locked myself inside the restroom to pull myself together. I was praying for the safety of everyone and for a successful performance. I looked in the mirror and told myself I can do it. I had to remove all the negativity inside my system. It was already our turn to perform…. (1/2)

So far, Maine’s main contribution to the industry is herself. She has not proven to be a good singer, actor, dancer or a general performer yet. She is a regular person who’s lucky stars aligned at the right time, and we have the entire nation to witness that. Because of this, Maine relates to every single dreamer who can only dream of having talents to show. Be yourself and keep dreaming!

She is a writer

It is a dream for someone who writes to have her own book. I have been writing since 2011, and while some of you may think that I am “just” a blogger, you must know that bloggers– writers in general– put so much of themselves into what they do. Writing is a passion. And I may not be a good writer but I enjoy and love expressing myself through the written word. I want to share my experiences and ideas with people; in the hope that I can make a difference in someone’s life through my words. I want to inspire them the simplest way I could. And today might be just another day for some but not for me; today, another dream of mine will be fulfilled. I will be officially launching my book this afternoon and I couldn’t be prouder of the fact that I wrote everything in it. You’ll know some of my life’s little adventures (and misadventures too!) #YupIAmThatGirl is an account of my life experiences and lessons, with pointers on the side, plus more info about me that you probably do not care about. Lol! I hope those who read my book will learn something from it, kung wala, ehhhhh.. sana meron! ???? Ngayon palang nagpapasalamat na ako sa lahat ng bibili at shempre sa mga bumili na. And to the people who never fail to support me in everything I do, maraming salamat po! And to the Big Guy up there, thank you God, for giving me this chance to be one step closer to who I want to be. ❤

Before Yaya Dub, Maine was already building her blog that talks about anything under the sun. Through her blog posts, supporters are able to know her on a more personal level. She writes so beautifully but she is no longer active. She has released a book called “Yup, I Am That Girl”.

Fashionista at heart

Our main girl is naturally simple but she plans out her fashionable clothes for travelling and displays them so well on social media. She does not try hard to look good.

Maine loves her privacy

she will

The most viral blog post that she wrote was about her privacy. Apparently, her quick rise to stardom did not do any good to her private life. Although she was grateful for the opportunities, Maine chooses to live a normal life than one that is controlled by an agency or the supporters. She shuts off all bashers to protect herself, family and friends.
