Last Wednesday, the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings released the list of the top-performing universities in Asia. The University of the Philippines earned the 69th spot out of 650 participating schools – which is three notches higher than its performance in the 2020 edition – making it among the top 11% of the Asian Higher Education Institutions.
What is Quacquarelli Symonds Asian University Rankings?
QS University Ranking does the world’s most extensive independent comparison of the region’s higher education system. It is the global higher education think-tank – most consulted for university rankings portfolio.
The QS Asia Ranking followed eleven key indicators for the university performance assessment. It used similar methodologies for the QS World University rankings, buy with additional indicators and adapted weightings. This includes academic standing (30%), graduate employability (20%), faculty/student ratio (10%), international research network quality (10%), citations per paper (10%) and papers per faculty (5%), staff with PhD (5%), diversity of institution’s international collaborations (10%).

Out of the 650 universities that joined the ranking, 13 made it to the top list, with the University of the Philippines in 69th place. Here are the top 10 universities in the country which made it to the university ranking.
