For this year’s 33rd annual survey of the international magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, three of Philippine’s islands were in the top ten of its annual Reader’s Choice Awards. With more than 600,000 registered voters, Cebu and Visayas Islands have been named as the Top Island in Asia.

No doubt, the Philippines is truly blessed with the bests of nature – from islands to mountains down to its people. This latest citation made by the CNT does not only give hope for the tourism of the country which has been totally affected by the pandemic, it also brings joy and pride to many Filipinos of how wonderful it is to live in this beautiful archipelago.
The Philippines got the most slots in the ranking with Cebu and Visayas on the top spot, Palawan on the fourth, Siargao on the fifth, and Boracay making its way back to the top 10 in Asia’s list.
- Cebu and Visayas, Philippines
Strategically located at the center of the Philippines, Cebu draws nearly two million travelers annually to its pristine beaches and diving sites. Aside from these, the island province also boasts of its rich history with its Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño – host of the sacred statue of Child Jesus that was presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the natives of the island way back year 1521.
Cebu is also known for its majestic waterfalls – Kawasan Falls – which has become a familiar favorite among many locals and tourists.
- Sri Lanka
Another country that made it to the list is Sri Lanka. Known for its countless sacred sites, boundless crystal blue waters, and picturesque jade green tea estates, Sri Lanka became one of the top favorites among many travelers.
This island nation is the home to eight UNESCO World Heritage sites. With more and more tourists being drawn to the country’s natural charm, hotels and high-end resorts and spas have also been constructed so as to address the much-needed dream vacation of many visitors.

Nightlife and beautiful scenery? Well, that’s what brought Haad Rin Nok Beach on Ko Pha Ngan in Thailand up to the third on this list. Despite its half mile stretch, it has become favorite destination among many travelers because of its Full Moon Party nights – wherein 12 powerful sound systems crank out tunes for up to 30,000 partygoers.

Shouldn’t we consider this a hall of famer? Truly, Palawan’s natural beauty is timeless. This archipelagic paradise has become a regular in many lists of best islands in the world.
Home to the renowned Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, Palawan also boasts of its beautiful destinations like El Nido and its blue lagoon, Bacuit Archipelago, and many other diving sites.
- Siargao Island, Philippines
Just 500 miles away from the capital of the Philippines is the remote and unspoiled beauty that is of Siargao. It is often compared to Bali – but a litter bit smaller and unspoiled. Its pristine white sand beaches, endless coconut woodlands, and emerald mangrove forest makes it a favorite vacation spot among local and foreign visitors.
Siarago remains as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines” and with its crystal-clear water, it’s easy to understand why more and more travelers have been hooked on this remote island.
