Top 10 Headphones for Pinoys in 2013

Ah, the sound of it. The best headphones will make you feel like floating in the clouds, all caught up in the music – to the crispiest detail. Granting you’re not listening to groanings of NIN (Nine Inch Nails) or the phenomenal MANOWAR, of course. That would be a totally different story.
Top 10 Headphones for Pinoys in 2013
Seriously, any music fan will agree. Headphones raise the roof when it comes to enjoying the sound of music. Purists may argue, however, that putting smartphone-sized contraptions by the ear is eroding the musical experience much like watching “The Walking Dead” on a miniature TV. I beg to differ. Sure, I do have my qualms and apprehensions after using cheap headsets for hours on end and finding my ears seem hit by a heavyweight boxer’s punch. But truth to tell, a quality device lifts the music to levels unknown.

It doesn’t matter if you’re into Mozart or One Direction, Yoyoy Villame or Bamboo, here are the 10 of the best headphones in 2013, that are sure to give music back to your everyday life. Whenever, wherever.

1 & 2. Sennheiser HD-25 1-II / Amperior
Sennheiser HD-25 1-II and Amperior
First stop, this one’s light and the noise isolation will rock you. Truly, you can’t go wrong with this headphone. Even its past versions can speak for themselves. Even with nil or minimal amplification, their sound is forward and aggressive. Very tight. Just like hearing the whole orchestra in action – from flute to the horns.

3 & 4. V-Moda M80 / M100
V-Moda M80 and M100
Ok. Don’t fret now but since this is a technical article chances are we’re bound to get technical. Please let me know if things get a bit quirky in the comments below.

This 2nd set of ear cans are unlike the first A-listers above, not identical. The M-80’s is a supra-aural headphone while the latter belongs to full-size headphone. For the uninitiated, please look at the pictures above. Supra-aural means it does aim to cover much of the ear. As for sound quality, both produced crisp, clear sounds but if you’re looking for a more bassy audio, check out the M-100’s.

5. Audio Technica M50
Audio Technica M50
This guy maybe the biggest in this A-lister but if you’re a new kid on the block when it comes to headphones, I personally recommend you get this one. Many audiophiles have found a true buddy with the M50.

6. Beyerdynamic T5p
Beyerdynamic T5p
If price is not a problem with you, the Beyer is a good choice. You can tell right from the way it’s packaged. As per sound, you’ll find it’s leaning to the neutral with much more emphasis on its top end.

7. Sennheiser Momentum
Sennheiser Momentum
Might be the latest in the bunch but don’t get me wrong this one could be in the running for the most balanced as it produces real clean sounds. Isolation is good and not a bag load to wear.

8. Beyerdynamic DT1350
Beyerdynamic DT1350
Well, for starters this one goes head to head with the number 1 on this A-list. And it does hold its own. Focus may be a little bit on the bass side than on the treble. Very light on the head and perfect to carry around.

9. Shure SRH-840/940
Shure SRH-840 and 940
If you don’t mind getting a little bulkier, then this Shure SRH brothers will cut it for you. The 940 is the more aggressive of the two. So if you’re seeking more balance go for the 840. And letting an iPod do its thing is a cinch.

10. Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9

This one can easily become your favorite. And I’m guilty of that too. Like a nightingale, this offering from AT is sweet and at the same time smooth and refined. However, if you’re more of the aggressive types and want your music to give more oomph, this may fall short.

The list is an arrangement of For the nitty-gritty, please drop by here. No doubt, the prices of the above head cans will get you floored. For a peek, click here.

There you have it, folks. Our latest offering. Hope that didn’t sound ugly and irreverent. Should anything come up, any strong reactions, anything, please drop me a line or two in the comments below. I welcome them like stream of water to a thirsty deer.

And also, please join us in spreading the word. Share this article to music-lover friends and haters (might convert them). To note, a house without music is like a body without a soul. Very true. Good thing the rejected Beatles hang on to their music even after they were rejected in their auditions. Sadly, fate was not so kind to Mozart and he died a pauper – albeit considered a genius today.
