Despite the raging controversies faced with the ongoing Southeast Asian Games, there’s more reason to support our fellow Filipino athletes asmembers of the Behrouz Elite Swimming Team-Philippines (BEST-Philippines)successfully bagged the Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) award in the 2019 HRH Princess MahaChakriSirindhorn’s Cup – 21st Royal Bangkok Invitational Swim Meet which was held at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Bangkok, Thailand.
Christ Jade Andal and Ashby Jayce Canlas successfully won gold medals on respective divisions. Andal showed an impressive 1:21.35 seconds 100-meter breaststroke performance.
The Swimming Pinas tanker Lance ArcelLotino also topped on his age-group in the two-day meet earning him the silver medal in 100meter Butterfly, 100meter Breaststroke, and 200meter Freestyle. He was also third in the 100meter Backstroke competition.He earned 40 points from his astounding performance – enough to secure the MOS trophy in his class.
In addition, the promising tanker, Peter Cyrus Dean, was also able to earn 54-points after winning one gold, five silver, and one bronze medals. He dominated the 100-meter freestyle event before he placed second in the 200-meter Individual Medley, 50meter Butterfly, 100meter Backstroke, 100meter Butterfly, and 50meter Backstroke. He also placed third in the 50meter Freestyle competition.
In all, the BEST-Philippines bagged six golds, 14 silvers, and 11 bronzes in the 2019 HRH Princess MahaChakriSirindhorn’s Cup – 21st Royal Bangkok Invitational Swim Meet. The tournament was participated by more than 800 tankers from 30 foreign countries.
With this, the team is now more excited to prepare for more international tournaments set in 2020 including the ones in Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
